"I just wanted to say thank you."

"I came to you when I was bulimic. I can proudly say it's in my past - for 2 years now! I'm working on my presentation for our church's Women's Night. I'm speaking about my struggle with bulimia and this is my first time sharing with a large group. I am ready to turn my struggle into a tool to help others. Thank you for giving me this opportunity. You helped me put bulimia in my past. I'm now very involved in my church, the healthiest I've ever been, and getting married! Thank you again for helping me get my life on track. You are truly amazing, I could not have done it without your help. You helped me get my life back." - B

Welcome

"I work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues providing individual, couple’s, and family therapy with a highly personalized and collaborative treatment style tailored to your unique needs to assist in achieving personal growth and lasting change. Change is a process that happens over time. I approach therapy as an interpersonal experience we share that emphasizes the healing properties of two or more people interactively working together as we make sense of your life in ways that are meaningful and specific to you.

It is my belief that we can change and transform ourselves at any stage in our lives.  This is accomplished by considering past experiences and connecting them to the here-and-now of your life, temperament, and relationships. Attachment style, separations, and losses beginning in childhood can influence one's personality; as do current contexts of living, loving, and working. I'm interested in mutually exploring the deeper reasons that difficulties keep repeating over and over with your participation in an ongoing dialogue to develop understandings about your life otherwise unavailable in ordinary conversation.

In our complex world, psychotherapy is a treatment for emotional discomfort or pain, an avenue for self-discovery and personal growth, and a means towards establishing and enhancing relationships with others and the world at large. Healing can take hold when two or more people join together to make meaningful sense of life. I hope you'll take this opportunity to contact me today."

  • How Therapy Might Help

There are many reasons people make the choice to come into treatment. For some, it's the exhaustion of dealing with long-standing psychological issues, or symptoms associated with depression or anxiety. For others, it is in response to an unforseen life change such as a loss, career transition, move, or divorce. Personal growth and achieving a deeper sense of self-understanding is also a common goal of psychotherapy. Therapy can help address one or all of these issues since working with an experienced therapist who is the right fit for you can provide support, insight, and new perspectives on a multitude of life challenges. • Medication vs. Psychotherapy

It is documented and supported by the literature that the long-term solution for emotional duress and mental problems cannot be solved solely through the use of medication.  Psychotherapy is unique because it addresses the underlying cause of your pain and behavior patterns as opposed to symptom management. • Making Peace With Regrets

If you were to scan the history of your life—the choices you made along the way—the forks in the road not taken; would you indeed feel as though you had led a life without regret? It’s a recurring theme in my office for those who seek psychotherapy. Oftentimes, a current mood state is directly correlated with the consequences of a choice long since made. But, one cannot change the past—one only can affect the present. Read more.
